Fast Track to Strong Legs

Have you ever tried kicking upright in deep water? You may have found that after just a couple of seconds you began to fatigue and then sink. Vertical kicking is a terrific way to make your legs strong in a hurry. Try kicking with fins over short intervals (10 to 15 seconds) to start. Slowly increase your intervals until you can kick with fins for 45 to 60 seconds straight. Now take off the fins, and build up your kick strength slowly and sensibly. To increase the difficulty, keep your hands out of the water, or even hoist them above your head. Another challenge: Try vertical dolphin kick.
