Don't Cross the Center Line

We're not talking about reckless driving here, but sound freestyle technique. A common error among all levels of swimmers is to allow the hand of the pulling arm to "cross" an imaginary mid-line that runs lengthwise down the middle of the body (think nose to belly button). When the hand pulls this far across the body, the arm, shoulder and back are not able to pull as powerfully as if the hand stays on it's own side of the center line. For maximum power, distance per stroke and speed, don't let that hand veer off course.
