Improving Your Turnover

The "heads up" freestyle drill, also sometimes referred to as "Tarzan" freestyle, is a good way to practice rapid arm turnover and improve your freestyle sprinting. Because it's so strenuous, this drill is best practiced over short distances (12.5 to 25 yards at a time). Try to keep your chin at water level and your gaze focused straight ahead. You'll soon realize how fast you need to move your arms to maintain this upright head position.
