Head Still

While the rest of your body (hips and shoulders) should rotate freely when swimming freestyle or backstroke, your head should remain as motionless as possible. If you're swimming indoors on your back, focus your eyes on a spot on the ceiling to keep the head still. If you're freestyling, try focusing your gaze on a line on the pool bottom to keep that head from moving.
