Surviving pack swims

Novice swimmers should start pack swims by lining up on either side of the main group and leaving the start a little later than the rest of the group. Taking these precautions should keep you out of the middle of the pack where it's toughest to breathe, see and stroke comfortably. The periphery will be much calmer.
