Don't Rely on Instincts

When we feel like we're losing control, our instincts usually tell us to back away (pull back, lean back, back up) but following these instincts will only worsen the situation when you're snowboarding. Keeping your weight over your downhill foot will keep you firmly in control of your board, allowing you to turn and check your speed. Lean back on the board and you'll be sure to flail (wave arms wildly, look dumb), or worse, pack (crash).
