Points on Form - Erect Posture

There is no single prescription for efficient running; we are all put together differently. There are general principles of body form that can be applied to all runners. Be sensitive to your own structure and abilities and never force a particular running style on yourself that doesn't feel right. Your running will be most efficient if your posture is erect, perpendicular to the ground (and the force of gravity). Check your form as you run by storefronts in a shopping center. If your body parts are lined up properly, you'll feel like you're moving forward as one unit-head, torso, hips, knees and ankles all together. The storefront windows will tell you if your head or shoulders, etc., are leaning too far ahead or behind.
