Racing - Dehydration and Cooling

Drinking enough water is crucially important--especially in a race. Many of the undesirable aspects of racing--poor performance, muscle soreness, even injury--are partially or wholly attributable to dehydration. When you perspire, the water is drawn from the blood stream. If you haven't had enough water there'll be a shortage of this vital fluid for the cells and muscles. Glycogen won't be as efficiently converted to fuel, wastes won't be eliminated properly, and oxygen cannot be delivered quickly.
