Clipless Pedals

If your bike came with platform pedals (flat pedals that you step on), or pedals with toe clips and straps, consider investing in clipless pedals. Among the advantages of clipless are an absence of straps, which can cut off circulation to your toes, and clips which can chafe and irritate the ends of your toes. Also, clipless pedals are easier to enter and exit, once you learn the technique. After a few minutes of practice clipping in and out in a parking lot or a grassy field, the motion will be automatic. Finally, clipless pedals are safer in the event of a crash. You'll come out without thinking so the bike won't bang into you as you fall.
