Bad Bugs

Always clean out the reservoir of a back-mounted hydration system each time you use it. This is especially important if you've carried a sticky, sugary sports drink in the reservoir. Use a specially designed tube and reservoir cleaner (available at bike shops) to get at the hard-to-reach places. Another ploy--store the reservoir in the freezer between uses where bugs can't grow.
