Cornering Safely

To get around corners safely, control your speed as you approach the corner and coast. Put the outside pedal down (for instance, if you're turning left, put the right pedal down). Doing so lowers your center of gravity and assures that the inside pedal won't scrape on the road as you turn, perhaps causing a crash. Lean into the corner but don't turn the handlebars--bikes turn when they're leaned over so there's no need. When you're safely around, begin to pedal.
