Riding Prepared

On your bike, you should carry the following emergency items: a spare tube, patch kit, tire levers and identification. Include a small tool kit like the Ritchey CPR-14 ($30). Weighing in at just two ounces, the CPR-14 contains a selection of wrenches, Allen keys, a spoke wrench and two screwdrivers. These items fit in a small pack that straps under your seat. Don't forget to include $5, wrapped in a plastic bag, and a couple of quarters for emergency phone calls. You'll also need a pump that attaches to your bike in case you get a flat.
