Hang On With Your Thumbs

When cycling, it's a good idea to keep your thumbs beneath the handlebars as much as possible. Obviously, this isn't possible all the time such as when you're shifting on some mountain bikes. But if you can keep the thumbs there (or at least one thumb) most of the time, you'll prevent losing control over bumps, which can happen all too easily if both thumbs are above the bar and you're only holding on with squeezing power. Once your hands pop off the handlebars, it's likely you'll crash.
