Training Physiology - After 10 Minutes of Aerobic Exercise

After about 10 minutes of exercise, your body will start a transition to fat as a fuel source. It takes this long for the stored fat to release free fatty acids into the blood in sufficient numbers to satisfy the demands of so many hungry muscle cells. After about 30 minutes fat becomes the primary fuel source, with a small "primer" of glycogen. (Just because you're burning fat doesn't mean you should be eating a lot of fat. Carbohydrates are the best source of energy; too much dietary fat can hamper your performance.)
