Obviously the object is to keep as cool as possible, so less blood will be needed
on the surface capillaries and can go instead to the exercising muscles. Light,
loose clothing will help, especially if it's wet or humid. It's better to wear
some clothing than none, it keeps the sun partially off your skin. Cotton will
hold any water you pour on, allowing it to evaporate slowly. Nylon and other
synthetics do not absorb moisture. A light mesh with large holes is a good
combination of coolness and absorption. Some experts like 50-50
polyester/cotton blends best. To avoid chafing, don't wear tight garments
or those with too much material in the armpits or between the legs.
