Hot Weather Clothing

Obviously the object is to keep as cool as possible, so less blood will be needed on the surface capillaries and can go instead to the exercising muscles. Light, loose clothing will help, especially if it's wet or humid. It's better to wear some clothing than none, it keeps the sun partially off your skin. Cotton will hold any water you pour on, allowing it to evaporate slowly. Nylon and other synthetics do not absorb moisture. A light mesh with large holes is a good combination of coolness and absorption. Some experts like 50-50 polyester/cotton blends best. To avoid chafing, don't wear tight garments or those with too much material in the armpits or between the legs.
